Of course, not everything in Warzone is unique, and it incorporates elements that are common to other battle royale games, like an increased health pool complemented by armor (the game’s equivalent of shields). While there are various weapon qualities in Warzone, they’re typically there just to let you know how many attachments are on a gun. With the release of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, Warzone stuck around, incorporating the new weapons from Activision’s latest game and bringing along seasons of new content.Īnother thing that distinguishes Warzone from other battle royales is that you are able to eventually get a loadout of your own instead of relying on weapons that you find in the world. Warzone set itself apart from the pack, and this led to Activision’s decision to keep the game around for another life cycle of Call of Duty. Giving teammates the ability to purchase revives for fallen comrades accomplishes the same thing, giving players a reason to spectate and root for their allies when they die. Warzone, on the other hand, has a lot of personality and a few features that make it a little more forgiving than your run-of-the-mill battle royale.įor example, the Gulag system, which allows two dead players to duke it out for the right to respawn helps make Warzone a little more approachable for those who are new to battle royales. Whereas Blackout mode contained many homages to previous Call of Duty maps, it felt a little generic, lacking unique features to distinguish it from the many other battle royale games on the market. However, Warzone followed it up, and in many ways, it distinguished itself from the pack. While it may now be ancient history, Call of Duty Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode was the first COD battle royale. Warzone isn’t Activision’s first foray into the battle royale genre using their Call of Duty franchise as a backdrop. Along with new things to do in Verdansk, the 80s Action Heroes event is here to let you play as either Rambo or John McClane, and they’ve even added Nakatomi Tower to Verdansk! Warzone is in the middle of Season 3, and that means that the Reloaded version of the season has been released. Along with the release of Season 4, the Ground Fall event has started, in which you can find fallen satellites around the map of Verdansk. Warzone has been changed up after the release of Season 4, and it contains many of the same things you’ll find in Black Ops Cold War since they have a unified progression system. Along with the Blueprint Blitz mode, Activision also seems to be experimenting with team-based modes in Warzone for the first time with the addition of a 20v20 mode. Warzone’s Season 4 Reloaded update added in the Blueprint Blitz game mode, which allows you to get blueprints for surviving rounds.
